Our next CLUB NIGHT will be held at The Rose Centre, in the Theatre, on Thursday 10 May at 7.30pm.
We will have a play reading of Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy ‘A Chorus of Disapproval’.
This play has a cast of 7 men and 6 women and we can swap the parts around as we go.
DESCRIPTION: Alan Ayckbourn skilfully draws parallels between John Gay’s The Beggar’s Opera and the day-to day activities of an amateur drama group who are performing it, showing how painfully embarrassed are the British in the face of emotion. It keeps us laughing in happy recognition."
‘A Chorus of Disapproval’ played successfully at the National Theatre in 1985 and around the word since then.
“Symmetrically shaped, psychologically acute, heartbreakingly funny” – the Guardian.
The play reading is free to current members; but others can attend and pay the $10 membership on the night. (See our Membership page for benefits of joining or for details of how to join before the evening.)
To give an indication of numbers, please RSVP to Kathy on 445 6447 by Monday May 8th please., or email her your interest in coming along, or reading a part on the night to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
