AUDITIONS for BRASSED OFF will be held on 28th March at 2.00pm at the Rose Centre, School Road, Belmont. Script/Audition information below. COMPANY THEATRE PRESENTS 'BRASSED OFF' A PLAY BY PAUL ALLEN, ADAPTED FROM THE SCREENPLAY BY MARK HERMAN IN ASSOCIATION WITH NORTH SHORE BRASS BAND 7-21 AUGUST 2010 For Danny it is music that embodies the spirit of the mining community in which he lives/ But as the closure of th e mine looms large on the horizon, not all the members of the Grimley Colliery Brass Band can share his passion. However, attitudes change with the arrival of the gorgeous Gloria and a new wave of enthusiasm sweeps through the band. Gloria's former classmate Andy is particularly smitten as the band embarks on the battle for the National Championships. Conflicts soon begin to surface between friends, family, colleagues and lovers. Yet a defiant spirit is re-awoken in the band, leading them on a triumphant journey. Gloria - a flugal horn player in her 20's, confident and gorgeous Danny - devoted bandleader, a grandfather, sick from lung disease Sandra - wife of Phil, young mother of 3 children, harassed and anxious Andy - in his 20's, former classmate of Gloria, pool player, good sense of humour Phil - 30's been in prison following miners' strike, stoney-broke, part-time childrens' entertainer/clown, married to Sandra Rita - 40-60, runs the miners' wives picket line, married to Harry. Vera - 40-60 - works in supermarket, married to Jim Harry - 40-60 Jim - 40-60 Shane Age 10 - 12, - Phil and Sandra's son and Danny's grandson. Also the narrator. Keen on soccer. All actors will need to have/develop a Yorkshire accent.
